Crochet Snowman Plush
Materials Needed:
- White yarn (Yarn DOL, color no. 741)
- Dark red yarn (color no. 752) for the hat
- Orange yarn (color no. 85) for the carrot nose
- Size 4 crochet hook
- Scissors
- Needle
- Filler material
Instructions:
Hands (make 2):
- Start with white yarn, create a magic circle.
For Round 1:
- 6 SC into the magic circle.
Round 2:
- 2 SC in each stitch around (12 SC).
Round 3:
- 1 SC, then 2 SC in the next stitch repeat around (18 SC).
In Rounds 4-6:
- SC in each stitch around (18 SC).
Round 7:
- 1 SC, then decrease repeat around (12 SC).
Round 8:
- 4 SC, increase repeat twice (14 SC).
For Rounds 9-10:
- SC in each stitch around (14 SC).
Round 11:
- 4 SC, decrease repeat around (12 SC).
Round 12:
- 4 SC, increase repeat around (14 SC).
- Fill the lower part with filler. Finish off leaving a long tail for attaching the hand to the body.
Legs to Body (make 2 legs then join to form the body):
Legs (make 2):

Round 1:
- 8 SC into the magic circle.
Round 2:
- 2 SC in each stitch around (16 SC).
For Round 3:
- 1 SC, 2 SC in the next stitch repeat (24 SC).
Round 4:
- Crocheting in the back loops only, SC in each stitch around (24 SC).
Rounds 5-7:
- SC in each stitch around (24 SC).
Body (after making 2 legs):
Join Legs:
- SC around one leg, then continue to SC around the second leg (48 SC).
Next Rounds:
- Continue to SC around, creating the body, until you've reached the desired length.
- Add filler as needed while working up the body.
Head:
- Continuing with white yarn on top of the body,
Round 1:
- SC around (48 SC).
Continue:
- SC rounds until the head is of proportional size to the body.
Decrease Rounds:
- Begin decreasing uniformly to shape the top of the head. Decrease until the opening is small enough to fasten off. Fill the head with filler before completely closing.
- Sew on the eyes and embroider any facial features before filling completely and closing.
Hat:
- Using dark red yarn,
Round 1:
- Create a magic circle and 6 SC into the circle.
Round 2:
- 2 SC in each stitch around (12 SC).
Follow on Rounds:
- Continue increasing in each round until the base of the hat is the desired size to fit the snowman’s head.
- Once the base is sized right, continue without increasing to create the sides of the hat. Finish off when the hat reaches the desired height.
Nose (Carrot):
- Switch to orange yarn.
Round 1:
- Create a magic circle and 6 SC into the circle.
Round 2:
- 1 SC, 2 SC in the next stitch repeat around (9 SC).
For Round 3 - Finish:
- Continue increasing in every third stitch every round until the carrot nose is the desired length. Stuff lightly before sewing onto the face.
Assembly:
- Sew the arms and hat to the body.
- Apply the carrot nose at the center of the face.
- Add any additional desired accessories or features, such as a scarf or buttons down the front.
