  • 4 ply cotton milk yarn
  • Mohair yarn (optional)
  • 3mm crochet hook
  • Synthetic polyester (for filling)

Pattern:

Head of the Jellyfish:

Magic Ring:

  • Create a magic ring.
  • Work 8 single crochets (sc) into the ring.
  • Pull ring closed and slip stitch (sl st) into the first sc to join.

Row 2: Increased Stitches:

  • Chain 1 (ch 1).
  • Make 2 sc in each stitch around (16 sc total).
  • Sl st into the first sc to join.

Row 3: Work Increases:

  • Ch 1.
  • 1 sc in the first stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat - around (24 sc total).
  • Sl st to join.

For Row 4: Continue Increases:

  • Ch 1.
  • 3 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat - around (30 sc total).
  • Sl st to join.

Row 5:

  • Ch 1.
  • Sc in each stitch around (30 sc).
  • Sl st to join.
  • Change colors if desired.

Rows 6-8:

  • Repeat instructions for Row 5.
  • For color changes, follow the pattern or add new colors as desired.

Close Row:

  • Ch 1 and cut the yarn, pull through to secure.
  • For a taller jellyfish head, add an additional 9-10 rows following the same pattern as Row 5.

Jellyfish Stomach:

Magic Ring:

  • Start with a magic ring.
  • Work 6 sc into the ring.
  • Close ring and sl st to join.

Row 2:

  • Ch 1.
  • 2 sc in each stitch around (12 sc total).
  • Sl st to join.

For Row 3: Increased Stitches:

  • Ch 1.

Row 5: Final Increases:

  • 3 sc, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat - around (24 sc total).
  • Sl st to join.
  • Ch 1 and cut the yarn, pull through to secure.

Finishing:

Connect the head and stomach of the jellyfish by crocheting around with sc stitches as instructed, adding synthetic fiber for stuffing as needed. Close the jellyfish body and switch to fluffy yarn if desired to create a distinctive texture.
