Crochet Coaster Snowflake
Materials:
- Size 4 acrylic yarn (I use I love this yarn from Hobby Lobby, but you can use any size 4 yarn)
- Crochet hook size 4
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- fpdc: front post double crochet
- bpdc: back post double crochet
- inc: increase (2 dc in the same stitch)
- dec: decrease (skip the next stitch, then dc in the following stitch)
Pattern:
Round 1:
- ch 5, sl st in the first ch to form a loop
- Alternate method for dc: sc in the loop, sc in the same loop
- ch 1, dc in the same loop (you should now have 2 dc in the loop)
- ch 2, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- Repeat the last 2 steps 13 more times (you should now have a total of 16 dc)
- sl st in the top of the first dc
Round 2:
- ch 1, sc in the same stitch
- sc in the next stitch
- Alternate method for dc: ch 3, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- Repeat the last 2 steps 7 more times (you should now have a total of 8 dc)
- sl st in the top of the first dc
For Round 3:
- ch 1, sc in the same stitch
- sc in the next stitch
- ch 3, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- ch 2, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- Repeat the last 4 steps 3 more times (you should now have a total of 4 dc)
- sl st in the top of the first dc
Round 4:
ch 1, sc in the same stitch
- sc in the next stitch
- ch 3, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- ch 2, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- Repeat the last 4 steps once more (you should now have a total of 2 dc)
- sl st in the top of the first dc
Round 5:
- ch 1, sc in the same stitch
- sc in the next stitch
- ch 3, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- ch 2, skip the next stitch, dc in the following stitch
- ch 1, dc in the same stitch
- Repeat the last 4 steps once more (you should now have a total of 2 dc)
- sl st in the top of the first dc
- ch 1, fasten off, leaving a short tail
Finishing:
- Tuck in the ends using a yarn needle.
- Weave in any loose ends.
