It’s perfect for warm days at the beach, festivals, or casual outings. You can personalize it by experimenting with colors, adding beads to the ties, or adjusting the number of rounds for your ideal fit. The finished design is both stylish and comfortable, with flexible sizing that fits every body type.

Materials

  • Yarn in your preferred color(s)
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors

  • Optional: Beads for ties

  • Make a slip knot and chain 12.

  • Continue on the other side with 10 HDC.

  • Place a stitch marker in the 3rd HDC of the increase group.
  • Change color at the end.
  • For Round 4, chain 1 and turn.
  • Work 15 HDC, make 5 HDC in the marked stitch, then 15 HDC back.
  • Move the stitch marker to the 3rd of the increase stitches.
  • Continue repeating the round pattern (chain 1, turn, HDC to marker, 5 HDC increase, HDC to end) until your desired size is reached, increasing 2 stitches per side each round.
  • Make two cups following the same instructions.

Sizing Recommendations

  • Size Small: 7 rounds total
  • Size Medium: 9 rounds
  • Size Large: 11 rounds
  • Size Extra Large: 13 rounds

Finishing Border and Drawstring Loops

  • Cut yarn and border the entire edge of the cup with slip stitches.
  • For bottom loops, chain 3, skip the first row, and double crochet (DC) into the second.
  • Continue by chaining 1, skipping 1 row, and DC into the next. Repeat this sequence along the bottom edge.
  • Repeat for the second cup.

Drawstring Construction

Main Drawstring (Bottom Cincher):

  • Make a slip knot and chain about 250.
  • Optional: Slide a bead onto the yarn and secure it by threading the end through the last chain, creating a small knot or slip stitch stopper.
  • Weave in the ends neatly.

Top Ties (Neck/Back Tie):

  • Attach yarn to the top back stitch of one cup.
  • Slip stitch to secure, then chain 100 for the tie.
  • Cut yarn, pull through, and weave in the ends.
  • Optional: Add a bead and secure it with a stopper stitch.
  • Repeat for the second cup.

Assembly

  • Take the 250-chain drawstring and weave it through the bottom loops of the first cup using an In, Out, In, Out pattern.
  • End with the drawstring coming outwards on the first cup.
  • Continue weaving the same drawstring through the second cup, starting by pushing outwards and following the same weaving pattern.
  • Finish with both drawstring ends coming outwards, ready to tie and adjust.
  • The completed top has a cinched bottom and neck ties for adjustable comfort and fit.
