Materials Needed:

  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • 4ply cotton yarn

Brown Part Pattern:

In Round 1:

  • Create a magic loop.
  • Work 6 single crochet (sc) into the magic loop.
  • Pull yarn to tighten the loop.
  • Slip stitch (slst) into the first stitch to join.
  • Chain one (ch1).

Round 2:

  • Work 2 sc in each stitch around (12 sc total).
  • Slst into the first stitch to join.
  • Ch1.

Round 3:

  • Work the following pattern in back loop only: (sc in next stitch, increase (inc)) × 6 times (18 sc total).
  • Slst into the first stitch to join.
  • Ch1.

In Round 4:

  • In back loop only, work (sc, inc, sc) in each set around (24 sc total).
  • Slst into the first stitch to join.
  • Ch1.

Round 5:

  • Continue in back loop only, work (3 sc, inc) × 6 times (30 sc total).
  • Slst into the first stitch to join.
  • Ch1.

Round 6:

  • Still in back loop only, work (2 sc, inc, 2 sc) × 6 times (36 sc total).
  • Slst into the first stitch to join.
  • Ch1 and cut the yarn.

Decoration on Rounds 3, 4, 5:

  • Make a slip knot and crochet in the left half loop of round 3.
  • Ch3, slst into the third chain from the hook.
  • Skip 1 stitch, slst in the next stitch.
  • Ch3, slst into the third chain from the hook.
  • Repeat this pattern around rounds 3, 4, and 5 to create a textured edge.

Green Part Pattern:

  • (Worked in the same way as the brown part until round 6, but use the whole loops, not the back loops only)

Round 7:

  • In front loop only (FLO), work 1 half-double crochet (hdc) in first stitch.
  • In the same stitch, work 1 double crochet (dc).
  • Ch1.
  • Slst into the stitch.
  • In the next stitch (FLO), work 1 dc.
  • In the same stitch, work 1 hdc.
  • Ch1.
  • Slst into the next stitch (FLO).
  • Slst into the next stitch.
  • Repeat the ch1, hdc, dc, ch1, slst, dc, hdc, ch1, slst pattern around in FLO.

Assembly:

  • Sew the brown and green parts together.
  • Stuff the project before fully closing.

Finishing Touches (around round 6 of green part):

  • Make a slip knot and crochet in the left half loop of round 6.
  • Ch2.
  • Work the following stitches into the same stitch: 1 double crochet (dc), 1 treble crochet (tr), 1 double treble crochet (dtr).
  • Ch2, slst (2 chain picot).
  • Work 1 dtr, 1 tr, 1 dc into the same stitch.
  • Repeat this pattern.

Round 5 Decoration:

  • Work the same way as for round 6.
