The pattern includes clear instructions for multiple sizes, making it perfect for beginners who want to crochet handmade baby gifts. With its simple stitches and two-color design, this project works up quickly and adds a charming handmade touch to any baby outfit.

Materials

  • Yarn: Double Knit in two colors (Pink and White)
  • Hook: 2.5 mm crochet hook

Toe and Foot Base (Contrast Color – Pink)

  • Start with a Magic Ring. Chain 3 (counts as 1 DC).
  • Work 11 more Double Crochet into the ring for a total of 12 DC.
  • Join with a slip stitch to the third chain.
  • Chain 3. Work 1 DC into the same stitch, then 2 DC in each stitch around for a total of 24 DC.
  • Join with a slip stitch and cut the yarn.

Crochet Baby Socks 1

  • Switch to the main color (White).

Foot Length (Main Color – White)

  • Attach main color yarn. Chain 3 (counts as 1 DC).
  • Work 1 DC in each stitch around (24 DC total).
  • Join with a slip stitch to the third chain.
  • Repeat this step for 4 rounds in total for the newborn size, keeping 24 DC per round.
  • Fasten off after completing the fourth round.

Heel (Contrast Color – Pink)

  • Attach the contrast color yarn to one side of the last round.
  • 3 and work 1 DC into the next 11 stitches for a total of 12 DC.

Crochet Baby Socks 2

  • Do not join; turn your work.
  • Chain 3. Work Double Crochet 2 Together (DC2TOG) across the row, ending with 6 stitches total.
  • Turn your work.
  • Chain 3. Work 1 DC into each of the next 5 stitches, keeping the last yarn over unworked on each stitch.
  • You will have 7 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn over and pull through all 7 loops to close.
  • Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Cuff and Ankle (Main Color – White)

  • Attach the main color yarn at the corner of the heel.
  • Chain 3 and work 11 DC evenly along the heel edge, then 12 DC into the unworked stitches of the foot base for a total of 24 DC.
  • Join with a slip stitch.
  • Chain 3 and work 1 DC in every stitch around.
  • Repeat this step for 2 additional rounds (3 rounds total for the cuff).

Crochet Baby Socks 3

  • After the final round, cut the yarn and fasten off.

Ribbing (Contrast Color – Pink)

  • Attach the contrast color yarn. Chain 3 (counts as 1 FPDC).
  • Work Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC) in the next stitch, then Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC) in the next.
  • Continue alternating FPDC and BPDC around the round.

Crochet Baby Socks 4

  • Join with a slip stitch.
  • Repeat for 2 more rounds (3 total) to form the ribbing.
  • Cut the yarn, fasten off, and weave in the ends.
