Pattern:

Foundation Chain:

Start:

  • Create a slip knot.

Chain:

  • Work a chain in multiples of 6, then add 2 additional chains.
  • Example: If you chain 18 (which is 6 x 3), then add 2, totalling 20 chains.

Row 1:

Turn Work:

  • After your chain, turn your work to start the first row.

Back Bars:

  • Work into the back bars of the chains for a neater edge.

Start Stitching:

  • Skip one chain, single crochet (sc) into the second chain from the hook.

Pattern Repeat:

  • Single Crochet: Do another single crochet in the next stitch.
  • Chain 3: Then chain three.
  • Skip 3 Stitches: Skip the next three stitches on the chain.
  • 3 Single Crochets: Then do 3 single crochets in the following three chains.
  • Repeat this pattern (chain 3, skip 3, 3 single crochets) across the row.

End:

  • Upon reaching the end, after the last pattern repeat, you'll have two chains left. Single crochet into each of these last two chains.

Row 2:

Turn Work:

  • Chain one and turn your work.

First Chain Space:

  • In the first chain space, work 7 double crochets (dc).

Next Stitch Skip:

  • Skip a stitch and work a single crochet in the next stitch.

Repeat Across:

  • Repeat the 7 double crochets in each chain space and the single crochet skip across the row.

Final Stitches:

  • After your last set of 7 double crochets, skip a stitch and single crochet into the final stitch to end the row.

In Row 3:

Start:

  • Chain four and turn your work.

Skipping Stitches:

  • Skip the first three stitches.

Single Crochets:

  • In the next three stitches, work a single crochet in each.

Pattern Repeat:

  • Chain three, skip five stitches, then single crochet in the next, repeating across the row.

End:

  • After the last repeat, chain one and double crochet into the final stitch.

Row 4:

Start:

  • Chain three (counts as a double crochet) and turn your work.

Chain Space Work:

  • In the immediate chain space, work three double crochets.

Skip and Single Crochet:

  • Skip a stitch, then work a single crochet in the next stitch.

Repeat:

  • Continue the pattern across, finishing with four double crochets in the final chain space.

Row 5:

Start:

  • Chain one and turn your work.

Initial Single Crochets:

  • Single crochet into the first and second stitches.

Pattern Repeat:

  • Chain three, skip five stitches, work three single crochets, repeating across.

End:

  • Complete the row with a single crochet in the last two stitches.

Continuing the Pattern:

  • Repeat from Row 2 for your desired project length. Rows two to five create the repeating pattern for the Arcade Stitch.
