Crochet Sweater

Crochet Cozy Sweater

It’s made of four panels — two for the body and two for the sleeves — that are easily seamed together for a snug fit. You can adjust the size, color, or yarn thickness to create a sweater that’s uniquely yours, perfect for layering on chilly days.

Materials

  • Lion Brand Home (Super Bulky, Size 6) – Providence Pink used
  • 8mm crochet hook (recommended 9mm)
  • Yarn needle, scissors, measuring tape, stitch markers
  • Stitches used: Half Herringbone Double Crochet (HHDC), Single Crochet (SC), Slip Stitch (SS)

Crochet the Body Panels (Make 2)

  • Work two identical panels in rows from the bottom hem to the neckline using HHDC in BLO for texture.
  • Chain 60 for length (approx. 25 inches).
  • Total rows: 57 (22 + 13 + 22).

  • Start each row with 6 SC BLO for the bottom ribbing, then continue with HHDC BLO for the rest.
  • Repeat for 22 rows for the first side.
  • For the neckline, leave the last 6 stitches unworked for 13 rows to form the neck gap.
  • Restart the full width by chaining 7 and working across to complete another 22 rows.
  • Make a second identical panel for the back.

  • Chain 50 for length (approx. 17.5 inches).
  • Total rows: 35.
  • Begin each row with 6 Slip Stitch BLO for the cuff, then continue HHDC BLO for the rest.
  • Chain 1 to turn each row.
  • Repeat for 35 rows, then make the second sleeve panel.

Assembly

  • Join Body Panels: Place both panels with right sides together and seam the shoulders using Slip Stitch. Leave the neckline open.
  • Attach Sleeves: Find the center of the sleeve and align it with the shoulder seam. Slip stitch the sleeve edge to the body armhole.
  • Join Sides: With wrong sides facing out, slip stitch from the wrist cuff down to the bottom of the sweater to close each side.
  • Neckline Finish: Reattach yarn at the neckline and work one round of Slip Stitch loosely for a clean edge.
  • Final Touches: Weave in all loose ends to finish your fluffy crochet sweater.
