Starting the Project:

Foundation Chain:

  • Make a slip knot and chain 10. Add one more chain for the turning chain. (You can adjust the number of chains based on the size of your project; the number should be even for this pattern).

Setting up the First Row:

  • Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and each chain across. You will have 10 single crochets.
  • Working the Thermal Stitch:

Row 1:

  • Chain 1 and turn your work.
  • Starting from the first stitch, single crochet by inserting the hook into the back loop of the stitch from the current row and the back loop of the corresponding stitch from the foundation chain (row below the current).
  • Continue across the row ensuring you only pick up the back loop from each layer.

Continuing the Pattern:

  • For each subsequent row, chain 1 and turn.
