Crochet Sundress

The pattern walks you through from top to hem, including how to add a border, insert elastic for a snug fit, and weave stylish straps that adjust to your liking. Whether you're lounging at the beach or heading to brunch, this sundress is as versatile as it is beautiful.
Materials
- Medium-weight yarn in your preferred color(s)
- Crochet hook suitable for yarn weight
- Elastic band (shorter than dress opening)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Top Part of the Dress (Chest to Top of Butt)
- Chain a length that matches your chest measurement
- Use a mix of single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet stitches for texture
- Continue crocheting rows until the piece reaches from your chest to the top of your butt
- The final shape should be a rectangular square panel

Connecting the Ends and Forming the Dress Body
- Chain from the last stitch of the top section to wrap around your lower back and connect to the other side
- Make sure the chain is not twisted and slip stitch to the opposite end of the starting row to form a circle
- Double crochet continuously around the circle, including into the top loop of the chain section
- Continue in the round until the dress reaches your desired length

Adding the Border
- Slip stitch your new border color yarn to any edge of the dress
- Half double crochet around the full outer edge (down one side, across the bottom, and up the other side)
- At each corner, place two half double crochets in the same stitch to shape the corner
- Slip stitch to the first stitch of the round, chain one, and weave in all ends

By Adding Elastic (Scrunchy String)
- Weave elastic through the stitched border using a crochet needle
- Use a shorter length of elastic than the dress opening for a gathered effect
- Sew the elastic in place on the inside, keeping it hidden from the front

Adding Straps
- Chain approximately 160 stitches for each strap
- Slip stitch each strap into the top corners of the dress (where two stitches were placed in one spot)
- Weave the straps through the top part of the dress in a shoelace style for adjustability
