Crochet German Shepherd Amigurumi Keychain Tutorial

Imagine having a tiny German Shepherd by your side all the time! With the Crochet German Shepherd Amigurumi Keychain, you can bring a little bit of joy and a whole lot of cuteness wherever you go. This adorable project lets you make a mini companion that looks just like your favorite breed.

Crochet German Shepherd Amigurumi Keychain

Materials Needed:

  • 3 mm crochet hook (use 5 mm for a larger size as shown in the video)
  • Black and brown yarn, compatible with a 3 mm hook
  • Yarn needle and scissors
  • Stitch marker
  • Keychain attachment (optional)

Pattern:

Head and Body (Starting with Black Yarn):

Magic Ring:

  • Make 8 single crochets (sc) in a magic ring.

For Rounds 1-3:

  • Work 8 sc around (8 sts each round).

Round 4:

  • 2 sc, increase in the next 4 sts, 2 sc (12 sts).

Round 5 (Switch to Brown Yarn for Eyebrows):

  • Introduce brown yarn, 3 sc in brown, switch to black, 2 increases in black, switch to brown, 1 increase in brown, switch to black, 2 increases in black, 4 sc in brown (17 sts).

For Round 6 (Eyes and Nose Section):

  • 4 sc in brown, switch to black, 2 sc in black (finish last sc halfway and switch to brown), complete in brown. Repeat (4 sc in brown, finishing with 2 sc in black) (17 sts).

Round 7:

  • 8 sc in brown, 1 sc in black (switch back to brown to finish the stitch), 8 sc in brown. Place safety eyes between Rounds 5 and 6 (17 sts).

Round 8 (Ears):

  • 1 sc, 1 decrease, repeat, then make the first ear: In one st, work 1 sc, 1 half double crochet (hdc), 1 double crochet (dc), 1 treble crochet (tr), chain 4, slip stitch (sl st) in the same st. Repeat for the second ear using opposite crochet stitch order. Finish the round by working 1 sc and 1 decrease twice (11 sts, excluding ears).

For Round 9-12: (Continue with Body, increasing and forming the shape):

  • Alternating increases and simple sc rounds, use black and brown yarn as required to form the body shape. Continue up to Round 12, ending each round with 18 sts in Round 12. Include a popcorn stitch for textured spots.

Tail:

Round 20:

  • Start in brown with 5 sc, switch to black, 3 sc, chain 7, work 6 hdc back along the chain, join with a sc to the start of the tail.

Closing:

Round 21-22:

  • Work popcorn stitches, decreases, and sc to close up the amigurumi, finish off with an invisible close.

Finishing:

  • Weave in all ends.
  • Attach a keychain if desired.
