Materials Needed:
- Scissors
- 4mm and 5mm crochet hooks
- Tape measure
- Tapestry needle
- Cotton yarn in three colors (Amethyst, Minty, and Turquoise), 900 grams in total or three balls of each color, weight category 4.
Making the Granny Squares:

Start with a Slip Knot:
- Create a slip knot and place it on your hook.
Chain 4:
- Make 4 chain stitches. This will serve as the center circle.
Form the Circle:
- Insert the hook into the first chain made to form a ring.
First Round of Granny Square:
- Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet).
- Make 2 double crochets into the ring.
- Chain 2, and then make 3 double crochets into the ring.
- Repeat the above step twice so you have 4 clusters of 3 double crochets separated by 2 chains.
- Join with a slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain-3.

Change Color & Second Round:
- Fasten off the first color securely and weave in ends.
- Attach the second color in any of the 2-chain spaces.
- Chain 3, 2 double crochets, chain 2, 3 more double crochet all in the same space (corner made).
- Repeat the pattern in all corner spaces.
- Join with a slip stitch and fasten off.
Third Round (Similar to Second Round):
- Use the third color and repeat the second round steps, but include a set of 3 double crochets in the single crochet spaces between corners to expand the square.
- Repeat the process for making a total of 60 granny squares (20 of each color way).
Assembling the Bag:

Layout Pattern:
- Lay out the granny squares in 5 rows of 6 squares each, alternating colors in a pattern of your choice.
Joining Squares:
- With the right sides facing each other, use the whip stitch or slip stitch method to join the squares together row by row.
- Then, join the rows together, paying attention to the alignment for a neat finish.

Bag Edges:
- Once all pieces are joined, create a border around the bag by doing one round of single crochet stitches.
Making the Handles:
- For each handle, chain until you have a length of approximately 42 inches or desired length, using the 5mm hook.
- Work in half double crochet back and forth until the handle is about 1.5 inches wide.
- Attach the handles securely to the inside of the bag on either side.
Final Touch:
- For a polished look, go around the top edge of the bag and the handles with one round of single crochet.

Optional Personalization:
- Feel free to add a lining, buttons, or any additional embellishments based on your preference.
