Crochet Turtleneck Sweater Free Easy Pattern

Sleeve shaping, ribbed cuffs, turtleneck, and waistband create a cozy fit with a handmade charm. You can easily customize the length, overall fit, and color choices to suit your personal style, making this a versatile wardrobe piece for layering and cold days.

Materials

  • Acrylic yarn held double
  • 4.5 mm hook
  • Half Double Crochet

Main Body Panel

  • Make 2
  • Starting chain 25 plus 2
  • Row 1: Work HDC across
  • Row 2: Chain 2, turn, work 2 HDC in first stitch, then work HDC to end
  • Row 3: Chain 2, turn, work HDC to last stitch, then work 2 HDC in last stitch
  • Repeat alternating rows of start increase and end increase until 17 rows are completed
  • Rows 18 to 27: Chain 2, turn, work HDC across for 10 rows with no shaping
  • Row 28: Chain 2, turn, work HDC2tog at first two stitches, then work HDC across
  • Row 29: Chain 2, turn, work HDC across until last two stitches, then work HDC2tog
  • Repeat alternating decreases until 17 decrease rows are completed
  • Work 4 rows of Single Crochet along long shaped edges

Sleeve Panel

  • Make 2
  • Starting chain 60 plus 2
  • Row 1: Work HDC across
  • Repeat increase method for 17 rows
  • Work 3 straight rows of HDC
  • Repeat decrease method for 17 rows

Ribbing Strips

Sleeve Cuffs

  • Make 2
  • Starting chain 15 plus 2
  • Row 1: Work SC
  • Work SC BLO each row for 28 rows

Waistband

  • Starting chain 12 plus 2
  • Work SC BLO each row for 80 to 85 rows

Neckband

  • Starting chain 30 plus 2
  • Work SC BLO each row for 38 rows

Assembly

  • Close the neckband ends to form a tube
  • Attach neckband around the sweater neck opening
  • Close cuffs into tubes
  • Close waistband into a loop
  • Join sleeves to body along the shaped sections
  • Sew both main panels together at shoulders and sides
  • Sew sleeves along underarm
  • Attach cuffs to sleeve ends and attach waistband to lower body
