Materials

  • Medium four-weight yarn
  • 5.5 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle, scissors, optional beads

Base

  • Make a slip knot and chain 6
  • Slip stitch into first chain to form ring
  • Row 1: Chain 3, place 11 double crochets into ring, join
  • Row 2: Chain 3, 1 double crochet in same stitch, 2 double crochets in each stitch around, join
  • Row 3: Chain 3, alternate 1 double crochet and 2 double crochets in next stitch around, join

Crochet Wine Tote 1

Body (Mesh Stitch)

  • Row 1: Chain 4, skip 1 stitch, double crochet in next stitch, repeat around, join
  • Rows 2-15: Chain 4, double crochet on top of previous row’s double crochet, repeat chain 1 and double crochet pattern around, join each row

Top Shell Stitch

  • Chain 3, place 5 double crochets in first window space
  • Skip next space, place 6 double crochets in following space, repeat pattern around, join

Handle

  • Fold work to locate opposite side, chain 50
  • Slip stitch handle to opposite side
  • Chain 1 and turn, single crochet across chain, slip stitch to secure, repeat for 3 rows
  • Slip stitch twice, cut yarn and fasten off

Crochet Wine Tote 4

Drawstring

  • Thread yarn through beads using needle
  • Make slip knot, slide bead down, chain 74
  • Slide second bead, chain once more and fasten off
  • Knot both ends securely
  • Weave drawstring through first row of mesh below shell stitches, tie bow to tighten
