The Octagonal Crochet Jacket (Evolução do Octagonal) is a unique and stylish project that combines elegance with practicality. Designed to create a jacket-like blouse, this pattern features a seamless back construction and clever shaping that allows the body section to grow faster than the sleeves.
Crochet Octagonal Jacket

The result is a flattering garment that fits beautifully across the shoulders and bust while keeping the sleeves light and comfortable. Using simple blocks of three double crochets, this design is easy to follow and can be adjusted to different sizes. Materials
- Yarn of choice (sample uses Mollet yarn / Lã Molê)
- 5.0 mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
Initial Rectangle and Foundation Chain
- For size M, chain 36. Adjust chains: S = 30, M = 36, L/XL = 46.
- Chain required number, add 3 chains (counts as first DC).
- In 3rd chain from hook, make corner set (2 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC).
- Skip 2 chains, make 3 DC block in next chain. Repeat to end.
- In last chain, make corner set (3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC).
- Work back along opposite side, placing 3 DC blocks between blocks.
- Close the first corner with 3 DC block, join with HDC or SC into 2nd chain of starting CH 3.

Building the Rectangle
- On long sides, place 3 DC block in each new space.
- On short sides, make Leque (3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC) in each corner space.
- Repeat rows until rectangle width matches shoulder-to-shoulder measurement.
Starting the Sleeves (Octagonal Increase)
- Continue Leque corners (3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC) on long side corners.
- On short side corners (sleeves), work Octagonal Increase (3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC, 1 CH, 3 DC).
- On following rows, work Leque into each chain space created by the octagonal corner.
- Place 3 DC blocks in all other spaces.

Joining the Sleeves and Body
- Work rows until sleeve sections reach armpit/bust comfortably.
- At sleeve corner, skip sleeve stitches and make a small chain to form underarm.
- Attach chain to next sleeve corner space, continue across.
- Repeat for second sleeve.
Working the Body
- After sleeves are joined, continue working in rounds.
- Place 3 DC blocks in every space until blouse reaches desired length.
Sleeves and Cuffs
- Join yarn at armpit, work in rounds until sleeve reaches length desired.
- Optional cuff shaping: alternate 3 DC blocks and 2 DC blocks for about 5 rows.
- Finish cuffs with ribbed stitch.

Seams
- Close underarm seam with tapestry needle for a flat finish.
