Materials Needed:

  • Hook: 4.0 mm
  • Yarn: 2 balls of yarn to be paired together
  • Others: Measuring tape, scissors, yarn needles, stitch markers

Front Panel (Make 2):

Start:

  • Chain 50 (for a size small to medium; 10.5 inches).

Row 1:

 

  • Skip one chain, single crochet into the second chain and each chain across.

For Row 2:

  • Chain 4, turn. Skip one stitch, then [double crochet into the next stitch, chain 1, skip a stitch]. Repeat brackets across the row.

Rows 3-45:

  • Repeat the pattern from Row 2.

Decrease for shaping (one side only):

  • Chain 2, turn. Work a double crochet into the next stitch (not the very first stitch) for the first decrease.
  • Continue with [1 double crochet, chain 1].
  • Repeat decrease pattern at the beginning of each row until you have 7 decrease rows total.

Finish Off:

  • Chain 1 and cut your yarn.

Button Placket:

Attach Yarn:

  • At the bottom of one front panel.

Row 1:

  • Work single crochets up the side, making 2 single crochets in each space between posts until you reach the decrease section.

Rows 2-5:

  • Chain 1, turn. Continue working single crochets. You will have a total of 5 rows of single crochets on the side.

Buttonholes (on one panel only):

  • After 3 rows of single crochet, work up to where you want the first buttonhole.

First Buttonhole:

  • [Work 14 single crochets, chain 2 (skip 2 stitches), single crochet into the next stitch].

Remaining Buttonholes:

  • Finish the row after the last buttonhole as per single crochet instructions.

Back Panel:

Joining Panels:

  • Lay the front panels on top of the back panel.
  • Sew the shoulder sections together from the neckline toward the shoulders.

Collar:

  • Work single crochets across the neckline, starting by attaching your yarn and chaining 1.
  • Work 13 rows of single crochet around the neck opening for the collar.

Sleeves (Make 2):

  • Chain 75.
  • Skip 4 chains from the hook, and work a double crochet into the fifth chain.
  • Follow a [double crochet, chain 1, skip a stitch, double crochet] pattern for 14 rows. The sleeve width is 15 inches, and length is 8 inches.
  • Attach sleeves to the body, ensuring alignment and symmetry.

  • Sew up the side seams and underarms in one continuous line, making sure rights sides are together and matching stitches.
