How to Crochet Wine Bottle Hat & Scarf

Materials:

• 4 medium weight yarn (shiny happy cotton from wolma gang is recommended)
• Faux fur yarn for the top of the pom pom (lion brand yarn is recommended)
• 6.5 millimeter crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• hdc: half double crochet
• sc: single crochet
• sl st: slip stitch

Hat Pattern:

Row 1:

• With two strands of yarn on a 6.5 mm hook, make a slip knot and ch 12. hdc in the third ch from the hook, then hdc in every ch across. (12 hdc)

Row 2:

• Turn your work and ch 1. hdc in the back loop of the first st, then hdc in the back loop of every st across. (12 hdc)

For Rows 3-8:

• Repeat row 2. (8 total rows of hdc in back loops)

Row 9:

• Ch 1, sc in the back loop of every st across. (12 sc)
• Fold the hat in half and join the sides
• Ch 1 in the back loop of the first st, sl st in the back loop of every st down the side. Yarn over and pull the tail through the last loop, then weave in the tail.
• Close the top of the hat
• Insert the tapestry needle with the long tail through the center of the hat, pull it tight, and make a knot. Cut the tail.
• Attach the pom-pom
• Make a magic circle with the faux fur yarn, ch 1, and sc 6 into the magic circle. Close the circle and leave a longer tail for sewing. Thread the fur onto the tapestry needle and sew the pom-pom onto the top of the hat.

Scarf Pattern:

Row 1:

• With two strands of yarn on a 6.5 mm hook, ch 29. sc in the second ch from the hook, then sc in every ch across. (28 sc)

Row 2:

• Turn your work and ch 1. sc in the first 4 sts, ch 2, skip the next 2 sts, sc in the next st, then sc in every st across to the end. (28 sc)

Finish:

• Yarn over and make a slip stitch, cut the tail, and weave in the end.

To wear the scarf:

• Wrap it around your neck and place one end through the chain 2 space.
