Crochet Christmas Stocking
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn, approximately 230 yards (you can use different colors for the body, toe, heel, and cuff)
- Size H crochet hook

Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: slip stitch
- hdc: half double crochet
- inc: increase (make 2 hdc in the same stitch)
- dec: decrease (skip the next stitch, then hdc in the following stitch)
Pattern:
Body:
For Round 1:
- ch 4, sc in the first ch to form a ring. ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), hdc 12 in the ring. sc to the first hdc to close the round.
Round 2:
- ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), inc in each hdc around. sc to the first hdc to close the round. (You should have 24 hdc)
For Round 3:
- ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), inc, hdc around. sc to the first hdc to close the round. (You should have 36 hdc)
Rounds 4-17:
- ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), hdc in each hdc around. sc to the first hdc to close the round. (You should still have 36 hdc)
Heel:
Row 1:
- Count back 10 stitches from the end of the last round, sc in the 10th stitch, ch 1. hdc 21 in the next 21 stitches.
Rows 2-8:
- ch 1, turn, hdc in each hdc from the previous row.
Boot:
Round 1:
- Attach the yarn to the top of the heel, ch 1. hdc, inc in the next stitch, hdc, hdc in the next stitch. Repeat around the edge of the heel.
Rounds 2-28:
ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), hdc in each hdc around. sc to the first hdc to close the round.
Finishing:
- Fasten off the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing.
