Crochet Pineapple
Materials:
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Black Bernat blanket yarn scrap (for the mouth)
- Safety eyes (size 20)
- Bernat blanket Smoky green yarn (for top)
- Bernat blanket Sun soaked yarn (for body)
- Bulky weight (6) yarn
- 7 mm crochet hook
Pattern:
Magic Ring:
- Lay the yarn across the hand, wrap around three fingers creating an X, pinch it, and loop around the pinky. With the hook, go under the first loop, grab the second, pull through, twist, and pull through to create a magic ring.
Round 1:
- 8 single crochets in the magic ring.
For Round 2:
- Increase in every stitch to get up to 16 stitches.
Round 3:
- Increase, one single crochet repeat 8 times to get to 24 stitches.
Round 4:
- Increase, two single crochets repeat 8 times to get to 32 stitches.
After Round 5:
- 32 single crochets in the back loops only to create a base for the pineapple.
Round 6:
- Popcorn stitch, one single crochet repeat 16 times to get 32 stitches (16 popcorns).
Round 7:
- Do the opposite of Round 6: One single crochet, popcorn stitch repeat around.
Repeat Rounds 6 and 7:
- until you have 12 rounds total, starting each popcorn stitch alternate between a popcorn and a single crochet from the previous round.
Round 13:
- Begin decreases: One single crochet, one popcorn stitch, invisible decrease repeat around to reduce stitch count.
Round 14:
- One invisible decrease, one popcorn stitch repeat 8 times to get 16 stitches.
Eyes and Mouth Placement:
- Add safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10, placing them just under a popcorn stitch with two popcorn stitches in between for symmetry. Sew the mouth using a bit of black yarn.
Round 15:
