Materials Needed:

  • Yarn: Yellow, black, and white (for the eyes if not using pre-made eyes)
  • Crochet Hook: Size appropriate for the yarn (typically a size G/4mm or H/5mm for standard yarn)
  • Stuffing Material: Polyester fiberfill or similar
  • Safety Eyes: 8mm size, or you can crochet the eyes using white and black yarn
  • Yarn Needle: For sewing parts together
  • Scissors

Head and Body:

Magic Ring:

  • Start with a magic ring.

In Round 1:

  • 6 single crochet in magic ring [6]

Round 2:

  • 6 increase [12]

Round 3:

  • (1 single crochet, 1 increase) x6 [18]

For Round 4:

  • (2 single crochet, 1 increase) x6 [24]

Round 5:

  • 24 single crochet [24] > change to black yarn

Rounds 6-7 (Black):

  • 24 single crochet [24] (2 rounds) > change to yellow yarn

In Rounds 8-9 (Yellow):

  • 24 single crochet [24] (2 rounds) > change to black yarn

Rounds 10-11 (Black):

  • 24 single crochet [24] (2 rounds) > change to yellow yarn

Round 12 (Yellow):

  • 24 single crochet [24]

For Round 13 (Yellow):

  • (2 single crochet, 1 decrease) x6 [18]
  • Begin stuffing the body here.

Round 14:

  • (1 single crochet, 1 decrease) x6 [12]

Round 15:

  • 6 decrease [6]
  • Finish stuffing before closing.

Wings (Make 2):

Magic Ring:

  • In magic ring: (chain 3 + 1 double crochet + chain 3 + slip stitch) x repeat 2 times

Bee Antennae (Make 2):

Magic Ring:

  • 5 single crochet in magic ring, slip stitch + 3 chain

Assembly:

  • Sew the antennae between rounds 7 and 8 on the head/body.
  • Sew the wings at round 9 on the sides of the body.
  • Insert eyes: Use 8mm safety eyes, placing them appropriately on the face. If you're crocheting the eyes, do this before attaching them to the body.
