Materials Needed:

  • Yarn of your choice (color suitable for a pumpkin)
  • Crochet hook (size appropriate for your yarn)
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle
  • Safety eyes
  • Stuffing material
  • Scissors

Crochet Pattern:

Magic Ring:

  • Start with a magic ring. (Refer to the specific tutorial if you are a beginner.)

Row 1:

  • Make 6 single crochets (sc) in the magic ring.
  • Pull the yarn end to close the circle.

Row 2:

  • Increase round: Make 2 sc in each stitch from the previous row (total 12 stitches).

For Row 3

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in the first stitch, 2 sc in the next. Repeat 6 times (total 18 stitches).

Row 4:

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in the first and second stitches, 2 sc in the third stitch. Repeat 6 times (total 24 stitches).

Row 5:

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in the first three stitches, 2 sc in the fourth stitch. Repeat 6 times (total 30 stitches).

For Row 6:

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in each of the first four stitches, 2 sc in the fifth stitch. Repeat 6 times (total 36 stitches).

Rows 7-16:

  • 1 sc in each stitch around (36 stitches per row).

Row 17 (Decrease Begins):

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in each of the first four stitches, then crochet two stitches together (sc2tog). Repeat 6 times (total 30 stitches).

Fort Row 18:

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in the first three stitches, sc2tog in the next two stitches. Repeat 6 times (total 24 stitches).

Row 19:

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in the first two stitches, sc2tog in the next two stitches. Repeat 6 times (total 18 stitches).

Row 20:

  • Repeat pattern: 1 sc in the first stitch, sc2tog in the next two stitches. Repeat 6 times (total 12 stitches).

For Row 21:

  • Sc2tog around (total 6 stitches).

Finishing:

  • Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
  • Use a yarn needle to weave through the remaining 6 stitches.
  • Pull tight to close the top and secure the end inside the pumpkin.
  • Insert the safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10.
  • Stuff the pumpkin before closing the top.
  • Optionally, you can shape the pumpkin by sewing through the body to create segments.
  • Attach any accessories like a crochet stem or leaf to complete.

Eye Cover (Optional):

  • Using black yarn/thread:
  • Start with a magic circle.
  • Make 6 sc in the ring.
  • Row 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (total 12 sc).
  • Cut yarn and fix the eye cover over the safety eyes, sewing securely.
