Making Process:

Base Of The Bag:

    • Start with a chain of 49. In the fourth chain from the hook, work 2 DC.
    • Skip 2 chains, then work 3 DC in the next, repeat until the last 3 chains.
    • Skip 2 chains, then (3 DC, CH 1, 3 DC) in the last chain. Continue on the opposite side.
    • Repeat from * to *, chain 1, and join with a SS to form 32 granny blocks.

    • Rounds 2-22: SS to the next space, chain 3 (counts as 1 DC), then 2 DC in the same space. Work 3 DC in each space to the end, and join with a SS to complete each round. Fasten off after round 22.

Sides:

    • Place stitch markers on the 11th, 14th, 27th, and 30th spaces.
    • Starting at the first marker, attach yarn and chain 3, then work 2 DC in the same space, and 3 DC in each space up to the second marker.
    • Chain 1, turn, and SS to the first space. Chain 3, then 2 DC in same space; repeat across for 13 blocks.
    • Continue repeating the last step until you have two blocks left.
    • Perform similar steps for the second side of the bag.

Straps:

    • Start with an SC in the next five stitches, and an SC in the turning chain (6 stitches).
    • Create 67 rows of 6 SC each, turn each row with a chain 1, and ensure to leave a long tail for sewing.

Finishing Touches:

    • Connect the straps by working from one side across to the other.
    • For a decorative touch, work color-specific HDC lines diagonally from the strap down the bag.
    • Continue the decorative pattern as you desire.

Final Assembly:

    • Sew the ends of the straps securely and weave in any remaining ends with your tapestry needle.
