Crochet Leg Warmers

You’ll start with ribbed cuffs for a snug fit and then move into the tilted granny stitch body for added stretch and comfort. These leg warmers are not only practical for cold days but also a stylish accessory that pairs beautifully with boots or cozy loungewear. Add optional buttons for a charming touch!
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn (less than one skein of 380 yards)
- 4 mm hook (for calf cuff)
- 4.5 mm hook (for body and ankle cuff)
- Scissors, darning needle, decorative buttons (optional)
The Calf Cuff (Ribbing)
- Using the 4 mm hook, make a slip knot and chain 12.
- Row 1: Turn and single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook and each chain across (11 sc).
- Chain 1, turn.
- Rows 2–36: Work the first and last stitches through both loops, and all middle stitches in back loop only.
- Chain 1 and turn after each row.

The Body (Tilted Granny Stitch)
- Switch to the 4.5 mm hook and work along the long edge of the ribbing (36 stitches).
- Row 1: Chain 3 (counts as dc).
- Skip next stitch and work a double crochet plus tilted granny stitch (TGS) into the following stitch.
- Repeat across and end with one dc in the last stitch.
- Rows 2–8: Chain 3, turn, skip the first stitch, and work dc + TGS across the row.
- End with dc in turning chain. Continue until 8 rows are complete.

The Boot or Ankle Cuff (Ribbing)
- Still using the 4.5 mm hook, chain 12.
- Row 1: Turn and single crochet in the 2nd back bump from hook and in each back bump to end (11 sc).
- Attach the cuff perpendicularly by slip stitching into the next 2 stitches of the body.
- Row 2: Turn, work a full sc in the first and last stitch, and back loop only sc in between.
- Row 3: Chain 1, turn, repeat the previous row.
- Continue repeating Rows 2 and 3, slip stitching into the next 2 body stitches each time, until the cuff is worked around the body.
- For the final attachment, slip stitch into one stitch at the top, finish the row, chain 1, and leave a long tail for sewing.

Seaming and Finishing
- Fold the piece to form a tube.
- Seam the ankle cuff using back loop to back loop stitching to preserve ribbing texture.
- Seam the body up the leg warmer using whipstitch or preferred seaming method.
- Seam the calf cuff using back loop to back loop stitching.
- Weave in all yarn ends neatly and sew on decorative buttons if desired.
