Measurements and Materials

  • Measure your bust and divide by two.
  • Use crochet thread (thin weight) and a 2.5mm hook.
  • Begin with a chain that’s a multiple of 16 + 1, based on your half-bust measurement.

Front Piece

Foundation Row

  • Make a chain multiple of 16 + 1.
  • Adjust length based on half-bust measurement, plus a few multiples for scallop width.

Row 1

  • Chain 1.
  • Single crochet (SC) across the foundation chain.

Row 2

  • Chain 1 and turn.
  • SC in next 2 stitches.
  • *Chain 6.
  • Work 6 double treble crochets (DTR) together, skipping a stitch between each.
  • Chain 6. Skip 1 stitch. SC in next stitch.
  • Chain 1. Skip 1 stitch. SC in next.*
  • Repeat from * to * across the row.

For Row 3

  • Chain 1 and turn.
  • SC in first 2 stitches.
  • *Chain 1.
  • DTR in each of previous DTR group, chaining 1 between each.
  • Chain 1. SC in SC from previous row.
  • Chain 1. SC in next SC.*
  • Repeat pattern across.

Row 4

  • Chain 1 and turn.
  • SC in every stitch and chain space across.

Row 5

  • Chain 1 and turn.
  • SC in every stitch.

For Row 6

  • Chain 4 and turn.
  • Work 4 DTR together.
  • *Chain 6. Skip 1. SC in next.
  • Chain 1. Skip 1. SC in next.
  • Chain 6. Work 6 DTR together, skipping 1 between each.*
  • Repeat pattern across.

Row 7

  • Chain 4 and turn.
  • *4 DTR in chain space, with 1 chain between each.
  • Chain 1. SC in SC from previous row.
  • Chain 1. Skip chain space. SC in next SC.
  • Chain 1. 6 DTR in chain space with chain 1 between each.*
  • Repeat across.

Row 8

  • Chain 1 and turn.
  • SC in every stitch and chain space. Follow specific instructions for first and last DTR groups.

For Row 9

  • Chain 1 and turn.
  • SC in every stitch.

Repeat Rows 2–9 until your desired length is achieved, ending on Row 5.

Top Part

  • Reattach yarn 25 chains from the corner of the top front panel.
  • Repeat Rows 2–9, ending on Row 9, to complete the upper section of the top.

Back Piece

  • Repeat the entire front panel (Rows 1–9 repeated until the same length is reached).
  • Do not include the "Top Part" section unless a matching back design is desired.

Joining Front and Back

  • Place front and back panels with right sides facing.
  • Seam both sides using:
  • SC 5, chain 4, SC into the center of the DTR group, chain 4, SC 6.
  • Continue this seam pattern to join the sides evenly.

Straps

  • Mark 2 points on the front and back where you want the straps to connect.
  • Chain approximately 75 chains (around 11.5 inches) or as desired.
  • Attach strap ends to marked points with SC.
  • SC along the strap and around the top front edge to create a clean border.
  • Repeat for the second strap.

Finishing Touches

  • Weave in all loose ends using a yarn needle.
  • Lightly block if needed to even out edges and enhance the lace pattern.
