Starting (Magic Loop Method):

- Work 12 double crochet (dc) into the magic ring.
- Pull the tail to close the ring tightly.
- Slip stitch (sl st) to the first dc to complete the round.
Round 2:

- Work 2 dc into each stitch around (24 dc total).
- Sl st to the first dc to complete the round.
Color Change and Round 3:

- Attach a new color by hooking the new yarn from behind and securing it.
- Start with 2 chains (does not count as first stitch).
- Alternate the following pattern around: 1 dc in one stitch, 2 dc in the next (36 dc total).
- Sl st to the first dc to complete the round.
Round 4:
- Start with 2 chains (does not count as first stitch).
- The pattern for this round is: 1 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the following stitch, 2 dc in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around (48 dc total).
- If you need to join new yarn during the project, simply hook the new yarn and continue crocheting as normal, weaving in the ends.
- Sl st to the first dc to complete the round.
Rounds 5 to 7 (Optional for Bigger Size):
- Continue increasing stitches in the pattern established (increasing 12 stitches per round) to make the coaster larger.
- The final stitch count at the end of the last round should be a multiple of 5.
Final Round (Heart-Shaped Border):
- Attach dark pink yarn with 3 chains to start.
- Work a puff stitch (yarn over, insert into the hole, pull up 4 times, yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook) followed by a chain to secure it.
- Chain 4 and work another puff stitch into the same hole.
- Skip 4 stitches and repeat the heart pattern in the fifth stitch.
- Repeat the pattern for a total of 17 heart shapes around the coaster.
- Sl st to join the round and tie off the yarn.
Last Round (Gives Definition to Hearts):
- Start by attaching a light pink yarn in between the heart shape with a single crochet, then do a double crochet into the next hole.
- Work around by wrapping the full chain of the heart shape with the double crochets and treble crochets to create a series of 3 double crochets, 3 treble crochets, and 3 double crochets (9 stitches total).
- Slip stitch to join the first stitch, tie off the yarn and weave in ends.
