Crochet Christmas Stocking Pattern For Beginner

Materials:

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• sl st: slip stitch
• st: stitch

Instructions:

Body of Stocking:

Foundation Chain:

• ch 2.

Row 1:

• 6 sc in the first ch.

For Row 2:

Increase (2 sc in the same st) in each st around. (Total 12 sts)

Row 3:

• Increase (2 sc in the same st), sc repeat around. (Total 18 sts)

For Row 4:

• Increase (2 sc in the same st), sc, sc repeat around. (Total 24 sts)

Row 5:

• Increase (2 sc in the same st), sc, sc, sc repeat around. (Total 30 sts)

For Rows 6-15:

• sc in each st around.

Heel:

Row 16:

• ch 1, turn, skip the first st, sc in the next st, sc in each st across (15 sc).

Rows 17-29:

• Repeat Row 16.

Closure:

Row 30:

• sl st in each st across the bottom of the heel.
• Fold the stocking so the heel is closed, and sl st through both layers all the way around to close the opening.

Top of Stocking:

For Row 1:

• ch 1, turn, sc in each st around.

Rows 2-21:

• Continue sc in each st around in spirals.

For Row 22:

• Switch to white yarn, sc in each st around.

Rows 23-35:

• Continue sc in each st around with white yarn.

Row 36:

• sl st, sl st, sl st (3 sl sts total).
• Cut the yarn, leaving a tail, and weave in the end.

Finishing:

• Fold the white part of the stocking down to cover the color change.
