- Crochet Hook: 5.5 mm
- Scissors
- Stitch Marker: Bobby pin
- Safety Eyes: 20 mm
- Yarn Needle
- Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill
Pattern Instructions
Magic Ring
- Wrap yarn around two fingers to create an X, secure it and pull the bottom loop through, twist, and chain one to create the magic ring.
Round 1
- Work 6 single crochets (sc) into the magic ring, then gently pull the ring to tighten.
Round 2 (Increases)
- Make 2 sc (an increase) in each stitch from the previous round to get 12 stitches in total.
For Round 3
- Single crochet in the first stitch, mark this stitch, then make an increase in the next stitch, and repeat (1 sc, 1 increase) around, for 18 stitches.
Round 4
- Single crochet in the next stitch, then follow a pattern of (1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 1 increase) around, for 24 stitches.
Round 5
- Repeat a pattern of (1 sc in the next 3 stitches, 1 increase) around, for 30 stitches.
For Rounds 6-10
- Work 30 sc (1 sc in each stitch) all the way around for each round.
Round 11 (Start Decreases)
- Follow a pattern of (3 sc, 1 invisible decrease) around, reducing to 24 stitches.
Round 12
- Repeat a pattern of (2 sc, 1 invisible decrease) around, reducing to 18 stitches.
For Round 13
- Follow a pattern of (1 sc, 1 invisible decrease) around, reducing to 12 stitches. Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, approximately 4 stitches apart.
Round 14 (Create the Frills)
- Work 3 double crochet stitches into each stitch around to create a frilly top.
Finalizing
- Slip stitch to the first double crochet to finish off the round, chain one, then cut a long tail for closing.
Stuffing and Closing
- Stuff the blueberry, weave the tail through the stitches of the last solid round (round 13), gently pull to close the opening, and secure with knots. If necessary, make additional stitches across the opening to close any gaps, and secure again.
Finishing
- Hide the tail by weaving it through some stitches and cutting the excess. Optionally, embroider cheeks or additional details to personalize your blueberry. Ensure to shape your blueberry properly after stuffing and adjust the position of the safety eyes and the frills at the top before finishing with the yarn needle.
Enjoy your crochet blueberry!
