The Sock (Toe and Foot)

  • Round 1: Make a MC, CH 1, work 12 HDC into the circle, SL ST into the first stitch, CH 1 (12 ST).
  • Round 2: HDC INC in first stitch, HDC in next stitch, repeat around, SL ST, CH 1 (18 ST).
  • Round 3: HDC INC in first stitch, HDC in next 2 stitches, repeat around, SL ST, CH 1 (24 ST).
  • Rounds 4–10: HDC in every stitch around, SL ST, CH 1 (24 ST).

  • Round 11: Skip 12 stitches (for heel opening), HDC 12 stitches, SL ST, CH 1 (24 ST).
  • Rounds 12–19: HDC in each stitch around, SL ST to finish, do not CH 1 after the last round (24 ST).
  • Hole: The skipped 12 stitches form the heel opening.

Ribbing (Cuff)

  • Attach yarn to the back edge and CH 11.

  • Attach yarn to the middle back of the heel opening, CH 1.
  • Round 1: HDC in first 5 stitches, DC DEC 3, HDC in next 10 stitches, DC DEC 3, HDC in last 5 stitches, SL ST, CH 1 (22 ST).
  • Round 2: HDC in first 4 stitches, DC DEC 3, HDC in next 8 stitches, DC DEC 3, HDC in last 4 stitches, SL ST, CH 1 (18 ST).
  • Round 3: HDC in first 3 stitches, DC DEC 3, HDC in next 6 stitches, DC DEC 3, HDC in last 3 stitches, SL ST, fasten off with a long tail (14 ST).

  • Finishing: Sew the heel closed neatly with the mattress stitch and weave in all ends securely.
